馃崅 Autumn Crochet Jacket + Chart Pattern and Video Tutorial | Majovel Crochet
Introduction
Hello crocheters, I’m Majovel Crochet, and this week I’m sharing a very special project with you: an autumn crochet jacket.
Autumn is one of the most inspiring seasons to crochet. The days get cooler, we start bringing out our cozy clothes, and nothing feels better than wearing a handmade jacket.
In this post you’ll find everything you need: inspiration, tips, recommended materials and, at the end, the chart pattern of the jacket. And if you prefer to follow it step by step, I warmly invite you to watch the video tutorial on my YouTube channel, where I explain every detail clearly and simply.
Design Inspiration
This jacket was designed with autumn days in mind, when we need a light garment that’s still warm enough to protect us from the cool breeze. The soft tones and the decorative yoke add an elegant and modern touch, while the straight body and roomy sleeves ensure comfort when wearing it.
The design is inspired by classic crochet, but with a fresh twist that makes it modern and easy to pair with casual outfits as well as more dressed-up looks. It’s also a versatile piece you can wear in other seasons depending on the yarn you choose.
Recommended Materials
To crochet this autumn jacket, you’ll need:
-
Baby acrylic yarn, soft and lightweight, ideal for cool weather.
-
A crochet hook suitable for your yarn weight (3 mm – 3.5 mm recommended).
-
Decorative buttons to close the jacket.
-
Tapestry needle to weave in ends and sew on buttons.
-
Scissors.
馃挕 Tip: If you want a warmer garment, use a yarn blend with some wool. For a lighter jacket for mid-season, you can use cotton.
The jacket comes out too tight or too loose.
Measure your bust before starting and adjust the number of starting chains.
The yoke loses its shape.
Double-check your increases on each round, as they’re key to keeping the design balanced.
The buttons don’t line up.
Mark the placement with pins before sewing them to achieve a neat finish.
✨ Tips:
Always crochet a tension swatch before starting.
Wash and block the garment once finished so the stitch pattern sets properly.
If using multiple colors, cut and weave in the yarn ends neatly so the inside looks clean.

In the video, I show you how to start the jacket from the yoke, how to shape the sleeves and body, and how to finish it with buttons for a perfect result.
Personalization Ideas
One of the best things about crocheting your own jacket is that you can adapt it to your style:
Colors: try autumn shades like brown, mustard, olive green, or burgundy.
Buttons: choose wooden buttons for a rustic feel or pearl buttons for an elegant look.
Different lengths: make it shorter like a bolero or longer like a coat.
Extra details: add pockets, ribbed edges, or even a crochet belt.
Why Crochet This Jacket?
It’s a practical and versatile project.
Can be adapted to any size.
A timeless garment that never goes out of style.
Helps you learn or perfect techniques like increases and finishing.
The satisfaction of wearing a handmade garment crafted by you.
Outfit Inspiration
With jeans and a T-shirt: casual and comfortable look.
With a light dress: romantic and feminine touch.
With wool pants: elegant style for colder days.
With high boots: a classic autumn outfit.
Care Tips
To keep your jacket in perfect condition:
Always hand wash in cold water with mild soap.
Don’t wring it out; lay flat on a towel to dry.
Store the jacket folded, never on a hanger, to avoid stretching.
A Final Note Before I Go
Autumn is the perfect season to crochet cozy garments, and this crochet jacket is one of those pieces that lovingly wrap us on cool days. I’m sure every stitch will carry a bit of your own style and creativity.
I’d love to read in the comments which colors you’ll choose for your jacket and how you plan to style it. Thank you for being part of this community and for joining me once again in the wonderful world of crochet. 馃崅馃挏
